What was your favorite part of the convention and why?
The unknown going into a first year con. Was it going to suck? Was it going to bomb? Would there be a fire alarm? Luckily, we only had the fire alarm. The rest of the con went smoothly and I look forward to next year.
What is one of your favorite moments from your time on the panels?
The Zombie Horde panel. Having so many cool people up there with me (Jack Wallen, Jay Wilburn, Peter Welmerink, and Brent Abell) who I respected as a fellow zombie author. Except for one of them. They know who they are, too.
What’s the funniest thing that happened at the convention?
Jay Wilburn. #jaywilburnisawesome
What is the one thing you learned from the convention?
I really miss eating at White Castle.
What surprised you the most about the Imaginarium Convention?
How well the staff pulled it off. No real major problems and it was a great networking event for the smart writers. Hopefully next year the crowds will arrive waving fives and tens and looking to spend their money on me. Only me.
What’s the best writing advice you learned?
Read everything, not just in your genre. In fact, keep away from your genre at some point and try to find something to challenge you.
What’s the best writing advice you gave?
I give so much and each word is a pearl of golden wisdom from my lips. So… be humble.
Is there anything you would have changed about the convention and if so, what would you change?
Stephen Zimmer could’ve given me a bag of M&M’s. Everyone else did.
Can you talk about your WIP?
I could, but then I’d have to kill you. Actually, Dying Days: Origins 2 will be released on November 11th and I’m quite excited about it. It is a prequel story for one of the main characters from Dying Days 2, David Monsour.
In your books, who is your favorite character and why?
Tosha Shorb has become a bad ass anti-hero to me. It used to be the main character, Darlene Bobich, but after Tosha in Dying Days 4… you’ll have to read it to understand.
What’s your favorite made up word?
What’s your favorite curse word?
What’s your favorite ice cream?
If God meets you at the gates of Heaven, what do you want him to say?
“Great job killing your ex-wives over and over in your stories. But we need to talk about you writing a story named ZombieChrist…”
Dying Days: Origins 2
The prequel tale to David Monsour, featured in Dying Days 2 zombie novella as well as short stories set in the Dying Days world.
Includes two bonus short stories as well! Plus author’s notes
